Organic Chemistry: Aliphatic and Aromatic Hydrocarbons.
This book presents, in four chapters, the first four units of a four-unit course on Organic Chemistry. The four units concern the aliphatic hydrocarbons - alkanes, alkenes and alkynes - and the parent aromatic hydrocarbon, benzene. Together, these four classes of organic compounds constitute the foundation upon which the superstructure of Organic Chemistry has been built. These are related as facets of a single entity: every subsequent chapter picks up and expands on the reactive-intermediate based rationale (carbocations, radicals, resonance stabilised ions)developed in the earlier ones.
